First Six Weeks

Ahem, I think this Six weeks has been vital to our knowledge in Multimedia. We have learned a lot like for  example, how to create a blog. We have also learned how to create an avatar, by the way, mine is amazing.  I now know how to create an itinerary. I feel that my understanding with computers and the internet has greatly increased. It feels like a whole new environment using Macs since I have grown up using other kinds of comuputers.

September 28, 2010

Today I came into Multimedia Class, expecting to work on my itinerary. When I looked for it on the desktop folders, It was gone! I heard Mr. W saying that some people had come in and worked on the computers and deleted everything. I highly dislike those people right now..

Madagascar Brochure Part Dos

Ehh, Today was an okay day. I did find out how to shadow and fix up tables and charts. I didn't get very far into the brochure though. I'm not going to have much of a bibliography since I don't have many Images yet. Although, the Bibliography does look good. I hope I get farther next time...

Madagascar Brochure Part 1

Whelp, I've been coming along. Some good things while others not so good. My cover is amazing. By my opinion anyway. Although I did forget to put the whole thing in brochure format so I screwed up there, but Mr. W said not to worry. So, no worries(: I have a feeling that my brochure will be awesome...

Multimedia Citations

1- What is plagiarism? Any good reasons to avoid it?

Plagiarism is bad. It is a piece of writing that has been copied from someone else and is presented as being your own work.

2- What citation format are we using for this project?

We will use the following citation formats: In-text citation + Work Cited Footnote Endnote

3- Create a citation for your 'Works Cited' page of two websites you might use on your project.

"Madagascar." Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia. Wikipedia, 9 Sept. 2010. Web. 10 Sept. 2010. <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madagascar>.

"CIA - The World Factbook." Welcome to the CIA Web Site — Central Intelligence Agency. Wikipedia, 9 Sept. 2010. Web. 10 Sept. 2010. <https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ma.html>.

Madagascar.

At first, I wanted to do Antarctica but its a continent not a country so I couldn't. I also wanted to do Italy but someone else had already chosen that country. Then Madagascar popped in my head, so I asked if Madagascar had been chosen and Mr. W said no so I chose Madagascar. I chose Madagascar because lemurs live there.

Netiquette scenario responses.

Scenario #1 – A student sends a harassing e-mail to another student. The receiving student
retaliates with a “flaming e-mail.” Is this the appropriate response? If not, what would be? Don’t respond to threatening or inappropriate messages. Report persistent abusers to your parents or system administrator.

Scenario #2 – When hanging out with friends, one of the students makes a call on their cellphone and carries on a conversation while still within the group. Is this ok? Why or why not? Yes, it is okay to do so but it would be rude.

Scenario #3 – A student logs on to a free file sharing website and downloads a song they just heard on the radio. Is this ok? Why or why not? If you download and distribute copyrighted music, videos, games or other materials over the Internet without proper payment or permission, you are stealing.

Scenario #4 – A student follows a questionable link to a website and downloads a malicious script which releases a Trojan Horse virus on to the school network. Is the student to blame? Why or why not? He should've asked the teacher for permission before downloading the link to the website.

Scenario #5 – An hour before class, a student remembers that a writing assignment is due. The student goes to the library, logs on to a website, and copies/pastes the information. Is this ok? Why or why not? No, Its not alright because its plagiarism.

Scenario #6 – At home, a student uses a software package to copy movies and games from DVD’s for his or her friends. Is this within fair-use laws? Explain. If you download and distribute copyrighted music, videos, games or other materials over the Internet without proper payment or permission, you are stealing.

Scenario #7 – A student logs into the school website to download the syllabus they lost. Are they breaking any rules or laws? Explain. You should get permission even though you are not breaking any laws... I think.

Scenario #8 – Students spend a good amount of time in class creating a web page for a school sponsored fundraiser. However, there website is not usable by certain individuals with disabilities. Was this disrespectful or wrong of them? It was disrespectful.

Blogging.

I have finally finished creating and perfecting my blog. I had a lot of difficulties, especially with my avatar. I had to confirm my e-mail and that alone took me about thirty minutes. Well, now I am finished. Thank God.

Avatar.

I finally finished my avatar, he didn't get to keep his cool hair since it cost too much. Oh well.. He also didn't get to keep his flying pet since that, too, cost a lot. Overall, I think I did a pretty good job creating my avatar.
